Moms, do you use jars of baby food or make your own? So far she's eaten about a spoonful of sweet potato which I made for her and I don't plan on using jars, but it's not impossible that I do on an occasion for convenience if I'm traveling or something. Is there a better than another brand to use if I do?

I didn't use the jars, but I'm not going to lie. We travel so much, it was ridiculous to think I could deal with making my own baby food all the time. I used the organic pouches. There's a few brands- Peter Rabbit, Happy Baby, Plum Organics. Plum Organics makes tons of flavors and they are always on sale at BRU. Right now I think they are 10 for $10. Kennedy still likes them and they are good for a snack on the go.

I make my own but I agree with Jennifer about Plum organics and their selection.

I made my own, it was just cheaper and healthier. I love to cook and I had fun making it. Have you heard of wholesomebabyfood.com? They have a lot of recipes on there. With DD2 though, we did baby-led weaning, so she never got baby food. We went straight to soft table foods.

No, we didn't have any issues at all. It actually made meal times a lot easier since I didn't have to make her separate foods and I didn't have to sit there and feed her. She was feeding herself since she was 6 months. I just put her foods on her tray and let her have at it. In the beginning, I just made sure her foods were soft enough for her to gum easily.

I made all of my own. And wholesome baby food was a huge resource for me too. It doesn't take much time and like etteyam, it was something I had fun doing. I didn't do baby led weaning, but with Maisy I moved away from purées pretty quickly, because she wanted to self feed.

Wholesome baby food is where I got the "recipe" for her sweet potato puree that she seems to enjoy eating. I'm really looking forward to making her food too. I can't wait to start mixing fruits and veggies together to get more fun flavors. Right now I'm just slowly doing one veggie at a time. Jar wise I'm only thinking of as a possiblity when we travel someday, for what will be easiest and safest. I don't like the idea of preservatives in jars but I don't want to keep purees and other foods for her at the wrong temps to get bacterias. I'm always afraid of foodborn illness and I'm already paranoid about her puree that I froze because it has pumped milk in it.

I ended up using water for the food that I made and froze. The breast milk made the food smell really weird when I defrosted it and it made me nervous, so I used bottled water.
We're planning to do baby led weaning with Caleb.

I made most of my own food, but when traveling, I bought whatever was on sale. I didn't necessarily buy organic unless it was on BOGO. She definitely like the fresh stuff better though. Her favorite was sweet potatoes.
